ElectroniClaim New HIPAA Transactions

ClearingMagic™ has added support for additional transaction sets defined by HIPAA. ClearingMagic now supports ANSI X12 270 Eligibility Inquiry and ANSI X12 271 Eligibility Response, ANSI X12 276 Claim Status Inquiry, ANSI X12 277 Claims status response. These transaction sets are in compliance with the implementation guides published by CMS. The implementation guides are known in the industry as 004010X092A1 and 004010X093A1 respectively.

ClearingMagic also supports the matching of claim attachments in the ANSI X12 275 transaction set. This is the format required by Workers Compensation Boards in Texas, California and other states. These standards were developed with the states and in conjunction with the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions. Users are now able to import and validate their own medical claims then send them directly to payers without any intermediary. They may then follow up on the claims by having the system create a 276 claim status inquiry and sending at a pre-specified interval after the claim. The payer is then required to answer the 276 inquiry with a 277 response. Once imported into the system the user may now print reports about claims that are in process or missing and need follow up.
